Daria vs Goblin Scribe

Goblin Scribe, and where Daria goes further

Goblin Scribe is one of the most complete Discord-native tools here — it closes the whole loop from voice channel to illustrated wiki entry without asking you to do a thing in between.

What Goblin Scribe is

A Discord bot that joins your voice channel, records the session, and delivers an AI-written recap with scene art before your next game. It detects new NPCs, locations, quests and items from what was said, and stages them for the DM to approve into a built-in campaign wiki. Art style is configurable per campaign.

What we confirmed it does

  • Records a Discord voice channel
  • Writes the recap for you
  • Builds a campaign wiki
  • Generates artwork

This is what we could verify, not a complete list of what it does — anything missing here is something we did not check, not something it lacks. Its own site is the authority.

Facts about Goblin Scribe checked on 2026-08-18 against its own site.

What Goblin Scribe is genuinely good at

Where Daria differs

She can hear a table that is not on Discord. When your group meets in a living room, open the recording page on any laptop or phone at the table and Daria records the room through its microphone. She separates the voices out of that single track, you name each one once, and the evening runs the same pipeline as a Discord session. A hybrid table — three in the room, two dialling in — works the same way.

She can read your dice. The optional Foundry VTT module puts rolls, spell casts, item uses and condition changes into the transcript at the moment they happened, so a recap can say which roll decided the fight. Whispered, blind and self-rolls are filtered inside Foundry and never transmitted, and chat messages are never sent at all.

Her answers carry receipts. Ask /ask in Discord or use the dashboard chat, and every answer links back to the session and scene it came from. And because Daria is also an MCP server, you can query the campaign from Claude or ChatGPT directly, rather than only from inside her own interface.

She also learns your proper nouns before transcription rather than after. Register the party with /character and add your invented places and gods to the campaign glossary — the whole party can, not just the GM — and every one of those goes to the transcriber before it hears a word.

Which one fits your table?

Choose Goblin Scribe if

Your campaign lives entirely in a Discord voice channel, you want the whole loop inside Discord, and you like the idea of vetting every wiki entry before it lands. It is available today, which Daria is not, and the approval workflow is a real answer to the problem of an AI confidently inventing an NPC.

Choose Daria if

Your table sometimes meets in person, you play on Foundry and want the dice in the record, or you want to ask your campaign questions from whatever AI assistant you already use — and get answers you can trace back to the session they came from.

Questions about Goblin Scribe and Daria

Can Daria stage discovered NPCs for approval like Goblin Scribe does?

Not as an approval queue. Daria writes what she heard and gives you /correct to fix anything she got wrong, in a way that carries forward to later sessions rather than needing the same fix twice. If a review-before-it-lands workflow is what you want, that is a real point for Goblin Scribe.

Do my players need accounts for either?

Not for Daria — players install nothing, create no account and learn no commands. They sit in the voice channel and play; only the person running /record does anything at all.
