Daria vs Crit Scribbler

Crit Scribbler, and the door out of it

Crit Scribbler takes note-taking off your hands on Discord and — unusually for this category — lets you download your transcripts. That single decision is why moving between the two is not a wall.

What Crit Scribbler is

A Discord bot that transcribes your session and uses AI to take note-taking off your hands entirely, returning notes along with extracted funny quotes and generated images of your characters. Transcripts can be downloaded rather than only viewed.

What we confirmed it does

What Crit Scribbler is genuinely good at

Where Daria differs

She reads Crit Scribbler exports. This is not a promise about a future migration tool — importing Crit Scribbler transcript exports is one of the routes Daria already supports, alongside Craig links, Zoom recordings and plain audio files up to 2GB. Imported sessions get the full treatment: recap, scenes, artwork, searchable memory, and their place in the campaign timeline.

She records tables that are not on Discord. A laptop or phone in the middle of a real table captures the room; Daria separates the voices and you name them once. Hybrid nights work the same way.

The dice can be in the record. The optional Foundry module adds rolls, spell casts, item uses and conditions at the moment they happened — filtered so that whispered, blind and self-rolls never leave Foundry, and chat messages are never sent.

And every answer she gives points at its source. /ask and the dashboard chat link back to the session and scene, and the same campaign is queryable from Claude or ChatGPT through the MCP server.

Which one fits your table?

Choose Crit Scribbler if

You play on Discord, you want notes without ceremony, and the funny-quote extraction appeals — it is a genuinely good read after a session. It is available today, and the exportable transcripts mean choosing it does not lock you in, which is a real reason to start there.

Choose Daria if

Your table sometimes plays in person, you want Foundry’s dice in the transcript, or you want answers that cite the session they came from — and you would like your existing Crit Scribbler history to come with you rather than start over.

Questions about Crit Scribbler and Daria

Can I bring my Crit Scribbler history into Daria?

Yes — Crit Scribbler transcript exports are one of the import routes Daria supports. They run the full pipeline: transcription is already done, so she picks up at the recap, scenes, artwork and searchable memory, and the sessions take their place in the campaign timeline.

Does Daria generate character art too?

Yes, and from your registered descriptions rather than a fresh prompt each time, so a face stays consistent between pictures. A DM who would rather not have any of it can switch automatic art off entirely in the web app’s settings.
