Call of Cthulhu

Daria for Call of Cthulhu

An investigation lives or dies on what the table remembers: the name in the ledger, the address on the matchbook, the thing the professor said before he stopped talking.

Call of Cthulhu is a game of clues, and clues are spoken. The keeper describes the photograph, a player asks the right question of the wrong witness, and three sessions later nobody can say which investigator heard it. Daria records each session and writes the recap the same evening, so the thread the table was pulling is still there next week.

Handouts are half the evidence. Upload the letters, newspaper clippings and diary pages with /upload_doc, and they answer questions alongside the transcripts — so "what did the asylum record say about the night porter?" has an answer that points to the page.

Between sessions, ask her what the investigators know: who they have spoken to, what each witness claimed, which lead went cold. She keeps the campaign’s canon — what is currently true, and which session established it — and every answer carries the session and scene it came from, so a theory can be checked against what was actually said.

If you play on Foundry VTT

The Daria module captures rolls from any Foundry system, Call of Cthulhu included, and places each one in the transcript at the second it happened — so the Spot Hidden roll sits next to what the keeper described after it. The deeper enrichment Daria does for D&D 5e, reading spell slots and item uses out of the message, is 5e-specific and does not apply here.

Questions about Call of Cthulhu

Does Daria track Sanity?

No. She writes down that the investigator saw what was in the cellar and what the table said about it — she does not keep a Sanity score or roll for losses. The sheet stays the authority on what is left of anyone’s mind.

Will the recap spoil secrets the keeper has not revealed?

She only knows what reaches the table: what is said aloud and, with the Foundry module, the rolls and pictures the players are shown. A secret the keeper keeps to themselves stays out of the record — what the players heard, she can recall; what they were never told, she does not know.

Does she work for one-shots as well as long campaigns?

Yes. A one-shot is one session: she records it, writes the recap and keeps it searchable like any other. For a campaign the record simply keeps growing, which is where a searchable history earns its place.
