Daria for Daggerheart

A system where the dice move the fiction rather than the math — which is exactly what a recap has to carry, and exactly what a spreadsheet of rolls cannot.

In Daggerheart the interesting thing about a roll is rarely the number. It is that Fear came up, the GM spent it, and the scene turned. That turn is spoken aloud at the table and written down nowhere, so it is the first thing a campaign forgets. Daria transcribes the table and summarizes what changed, so the record is the story rather than the arithmetic.

Campaign frames, ancestries and communities give a Daggerheart game a vocabulary of its own within a session or two. Add those names to your campaign glossary — any player can — and Daria transcribes them correctly instead of guessing at them, which is the difference between a searchable session and a session you have to re-listen to.

Between sessions, ask her anything — what the party owes whom, which fear the GM has been circling, what a character said the last time they were cornered. Every answer carries the session and scene it came from, so you can check her.

If you play on Foundry VTT

The Daria module captures rolls from any Foundry system, Daggerheart included, and places each one in the transcript at the second it happened — so a duality roll sits next to what was said about it. The deeper enrichment Daria does for D&D 5e, reading spell slots and item uses out of the message, is 5e-specific and does not apply here.

Questions about Daggerheart

Does Daria track Hope and Fear?

Not as counters — she keeps no tally and never will. What she keeps is the moment: your table says Fear came up and the GM spends it, she transcribes that, and the recap carries the turn the scene took rather than the arithmetic behind it.

Is Daggerheart as well supported as D&D 5e?

Everything that matters is identical — recording, transcription, recaps, scene breakdown, artwork and search all work the same way, because none of them consult a rulebook. The one 5e-specific part is the extra detail the Foundry module reads out of that system’s own messages, described above.

Will the recap read like the fiction or like a spreadsheet?

Like the fiction. Daria summarizes from what was actually said at your table, so a recap is about the bargain your rogue struck and what it cost — the dice appear when they changed something, not as a log.
