What CharGen is

A Discord bot with a broad toolkit — dice rolling, initiative tracking, NPC, monster, tavern and shop generators — alongside voice recording with live transcription. Its session summariser produces spoiler-free short and full recaps, and extracts ordered events, highlights, cast, locations, quests, plot threads and world entries with a searchable transcript. It also generates AI art, and takes uploaded audio and transcripts as well as live sessions.

What CharGen is genuinely good at

Where Daria differs

She does not play the game with you. Daria has no dice roller, no initiative tracker and no generators, and there is no plan for them. She listens to your table and never reads a rulebook — she does not need to know how a spell works to write down that you cast it, which is also why she works with every system rather than a supported list.

She records tables that are not on Discord. A laptop or phone at a physical table captures the room; she separates the voices and you name each one once. That is the case a Discord-first toolkit structurally cannot cover.

She reads the VTT instead of replacing it. If you play on Foundry, its module already knows what you rolled — so rather than offering a dice command, Daria takes rolls, spell casts, item uses and conditions from Foundry and puts them in the transcript at the moment they happened. Whispered, blind and self-rolls are filtered inside Foundry; chat messages are never transmitted.

Both tools are reachable over MCP, so that is not a reason to pick one — what differs is what comes back. Daria’s answers cite the session and scene they came from, and she says so rather than guessing when the record does not contain the answer.

Which one fits your table?

Choose CharGen if

You want one bot that rolls dice, tracks initiative, generates a tavern when you need one, and also takes notes. That is a genuinely good deal and Daria simply does not compete for it — she has none of those tools and will not be adding them.

Choose Daria if

Your dice already live somewhere else — on a VTT, or on the table in front of you — and what you actually want is the best possible record of the evening, including the sessions that happen in a living room.

Questions about CharGen and Daria

Will Daria ever roll dice?

No. She listens to your table rather than running it, and every hour spent on a dice command is an hour not spent on the recording, the recap and the search. If you want dice from the same bot, CharGen is the better answer.

Does Daria work with my system?

All of them. She transcribes speech and summarizes story, and never consults a rulebook. D&D 5e, Daggerheart and Pathfinder 2e have pages of their own because there is something specific to say about each; everything else works identically.
